The other day we had a visitor at our ranch. We were not expecting this visitor and don’t know exactly what it was! The Colonel said it must be someone’s exotic animal that found a way out of the fence. It came up close to the yard and walked close to the fence. A beautiful animal. Suddenly it ran down the hill to the Sweet Gum Grove and we haven’t seen it since. So, if anyone is missing an exotic animal it was in the Butler area on Saturday.

The funny thing about this event was that the cows didn’t run but they did all turn around to look at it. They even moved out of the way for it when the animal ran to the Grove. It was a fast runner also. There are a lot of strange things that happen around here, but we always take them in stride. We have had Eaglets walking around in the pastures and roosting in the trees that were a real treat to watch. We had a goat one time, Guinea hens roosting in the trees another time. The usual coyotes trek across the area too. A while back there were two timber wolves strolling through the Middle Pasture close to the house. This is a great place to live; almost as if living close to a zoo!
