Run-Off Elections for the Republican and Democratic parties is set for May 26, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 pm.
Early Voting will start May 18 at the Green Barn in Fairfield and at the Civic/Community Center in Teague from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Run-offs are held when none of the candidates receive 50% or more of the total votes.
Republican Primary Runoffs
–U.S. Senator
John Cornyn (41.89%) and Ken Paxton (40.68%)
–Attorney General
Mayes Middleton (39.12%) and Chip Roy (31.6%)
–Railroad Comm
Jim Wright (32.07%) and Bo French (31.73%)
–Judge, Court of Crim Appl, Pl 3
Alison Fox (31.26%) and Thomas Smith (30.71%)
Democratic Primary Runoffs
–Lieutenant Governor
Vikki Goodwin (48.01%) and Marcos Isaias Valez (31.49%)
–Attorney General
Nathan Johnson (48.11%) and Joe Jaworski (26.43%)
Important to note; winners of the Primary Elections (and Run-Off Elections) will determine who will appear on the ballot for the November election. Additional names may be included from the Libertarian and/or Green Party.
Also, those wishing to throw their own hat into the ring may do so as a Write-In-Candidate. These candidates may file as Write-In from July 18, 2026, through August 17, 2026.
