Phillip Eugene Keeney, 78 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2024.

He was born August 28, 1945, in Vanport, Oregon to William Keeney and Helen Kreiger Keeney.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Phillip served in the United States Army from 1962-1966 with two tours in Vietnam. He also served in the 101st airborne division and was an instructor at West Point Military Academy. Phillip was in the Co A 4th Bn, 23rd Infantry, 25th Division.

He retired, after 32 years, from Big Brown TXU Mining as a Fuel Mechanic.

Phillip found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in his favorite pastimes of hunting and fishing and had a special fondness for crappie fishing.

Phillip is preceded in death by wife, Cecilia Keeney on February 5, 2024, and his parents.

He is survived by his children, Tracy Mitchell and ex-husband Jimmy Mitchell, Gena Aultman and husband John David, Wesley Keeney and wife Jeannie. Sisters in law, Dee Jo and husband Jimmie Lee, Kathy and Jimmy Self. Numerous stepbrothers and stepsisters. Grandchildren, James Mitchell, Kayla Mitchell, Jonathon and Bre Richmond, Connor and Olivia Aultman, Avery and Marilyn Aultman, Trenity Keeney, Austin Keeney, Brailey Keeney. Great grandchildren, Carson Aultman, Carter Richmond, Declan Richmond, Ainsley Aultman. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Visitation was Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.

Funeral service was held Monday, May 6, 2024, at Calvary Baptist Church with Johnny Johnstone and Bro. Terry Skinner officiating.

Burial followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were James Mitchell, Jonathon Richmond, Connor Aultman, Avery Aultman, Trenity Keeney, Austin Keeney. Honorary pallbearers were great nephews.
