Final preparations are underway for another exciting and adventurer-filled program as Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield looks forward to their annual Vacation Bible School!

This year’s program is titled ‘Jerusalem Marketplace’ and will take children down the path that Jesus walked to the cross. Children will meet
numerous Bible characters throughout their journey of the program. Cast members will be dressed in clothing reminiscent of that time in the Bible. They will experience the bustling town of Jerusalem, meet the citizens and see many of the traditions that were common in those days.

Each night will consist of teaching children about Jesus and the life He lived on his way to the cross. Bible scripture will be studied nightly so the students can learn how knowing God will affect them in a positive and rewarding way throughout their lives. Children will better understand the importance of having Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Teachers will be able to answer any of the questions children ask throughout the program.

Each night will involve Bible study, games, crafts, a recreation time, music and a lite meal for the children. Monday night meal will be spaghetti, Tuesday hotdogs and tater tots, Wednesday chicken nuggets and French fries, Thursday pizza and Friday corny dogs and macaroni and cheese.

A new addition to the yearly program will be a petting zoo Friday night at the church. The Franklin Drive Thru Safari will have a camel, donkey, goats and sheep for kiddos to pet and take pictures with.

Free snow cones will also be available for kiddos that night. Also new this year, students attending VBS each night will have their names entered into a drawing for a $25 Wal-Mart gift card. Eight winning names will be drawn during the final program on Friday night.

Parents are encouraged to attend the short closing program with their children on Friday, June 11th at 6 pm. The children will sing songs they have learned, pick up crafts made during the week and learn whether the boys or girls won some fun competitions throughout the week. Parents are then encouraged to enjoy a free catfish dinner provided by the church in Calvary’s Life Center.

Calvary’s Jerusalem Marketplace VBS is open to 4-year-olds through incoming 6th grade students and will begin on Monday June 6th and conclude Friday June 11th. Nightly classes will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 8:30 pm.

Pre-registration is recommended on Calvary Fairfield’s Facebook page or website. Located at 220 East Main in Fairfield, those needing more information can contact Youth Minister David Skinner at 903.389.2613.
