Pastor Elder Daniel Gatson passed from this world on Sunday, November 29, 2020.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Round Prairie Baptist Church of Fairfield, Texas.  Officiating was Pastor P.A. Rischer; Eulogist was Bishop Carlos Daniels, Sr.

Interment followed at 711 County Road 1080 in Fairfield, Texas.

Active pallbearers were Vincent Gatson, Daniel “Kolton” Gatson, Raymond McDonald, Wilmer Taylor, Jr.; Keiston Gatson, and Willie Willis, Sr.  Honorary pallbearers were Landon Washington, Ruben Madera, Kelvin Funches, Rodrick Fantroy, Le’Mond Gatson, and Johnny Valdez.

Pastor Elder Daniel Gatson was born on March 8, 1949 in Fairfield, Texas to the late Willie and Verila (Banks) Gatson. He was the 13th of 14 children. He was raised in Fairfield, Texas and graduated from Dogan High School. He later completed seminary classes from a local community college. Daniel worked at Nucor Steel Mill in Jewett, Texas for over 30 years in the roll shop. After he retired from Nucor, he established himself as an entrepreneur in rental properties and worked on his ranch.

Pastor Gatson accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age at Fairfield #1 COGIC under Pastor J.L. Reed, he later joined New Birth Christian Center and served under the leadership of the late Bishop Tyree Gatson, Sr. in December 2004. Daniel became an ordained Minister, he then went on to become the Pastor of New Birth Christian Center.

Pastor Gatson impacted many hearts, he was a true man of God, great father, husband, Papa, brother, uncles and friend who never met a stranger. He was a hardworking man who was always studying his bible, working on his land/rental properties, or tending to his cows and horses. He loved going to support his grandchildren participating in sporting events and other activities. Pastor Gatson enjoyed rodeoing, and competing in hunting and fishing events, he was an avid fisher, and hunter. He will always be remembered for his kind selfless heart and his contagious smile.

On the morning of November 29, 2020, in Fairfield, Texas, Pastor Elder Daniel Gatson was called to his  heavenly home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Verila Gatson; brothers, Aubrey Gatson, Tyree Gatson, Sr, Willie Gatson, Jr., Sandras Gatson; sister, Mae Pearl Alexander; first wife, Linda Gatson.

Loving Wife, Anna “Jean” Gatson; Children: Alynda “Chris” Gatson, Denise (Kelvin) Punches, Monica (Johnny) Valdez, all of Fairfield, Texas and Le’Mond Gatson of McKinney,  Texas; Grandchildren: Daniel “Kolton” Gatson, D’lynda Gatson, Ruben Madera, Landon  Washington, Sariah Valdez, Aamiyah Gatson, Armani  Gatson and Aalayah Gatson. Sisters: Excell (Allen) Groggs of Dallas, Texas, Mary Joyce Manning, Oakwood, Texas, and Lanetta Turner of Dallas, Texas; Brothers: Maurice Gatson (Margret), Melvin (Delois) Gatson, Alvin (Glendora) Gatson, all of Dallas, Texas, Linbirgh (Esther) Gatson of Oakland, California, Walter Ray (Lois) Gatson of Fairfield, Texas and special nephews, Tyree (Ruby) Gatson, Jr. and Don Manning Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends; along with Special friends: Deacon Dan Rabb, Reverend Donald Parks, Pastor Roy Mitchell, Reverend James Willis, Brother Royce Dawkins, Ralph  Dials, Brother Cliff Henderson (Assisted in building New Birth Christian Center) and many more.
