The Veterans Remembrance Park of Teague (VRPT) Board of Directors sends a great big THANK YOU to the community for attending the Memorial Day Ceremony held at the VRPT on May 25th. We thank Board Director, Bill Gipson for being our Master of Ceremonies during the event.
Approximately 100 people joined us on this beautiful, warm day to honor and remember the men and women who have given their lives in service to their country in the U.S. military.
We greatly appreciate Buzz Russell, KNES-99.1 – On-Air Personality Program Director – for coming out to be our guest speaker. He shared personal stories about his family who served in the military and how their lives inspired him.
We thank VFW Post # 5872 from Fairfield for their ongoing support of the VRPT. They performed a solemn flag folding ceremony. Mr. Lamar Evans read meaningful official representations for each fold made by members of the VFW.
In addition, we are thankful to others for their participation – Mr. Chris Skinner for beginning our ceremony with the Invocation; Ms. Destiny Black for singing the National Anthem; Mr. Wayne Williams for closing with the Benediction; and Mackenzie Leist for playing TAPS.
Memorial Day is dedicated to our local heroes. It is a time to reflect on the veterans throughout our past who have served, fought, sacrificed and died. As long as our veterans’ names are spoken, they will not be forgotten.
