“We are the ‘connect-the-dots’ people,” says Amy Freeman of Navarro Small Business Development Center (SBDC).  “If you don’t know where to go next, we can help.”

She has certainly made her share of connections, as Freeman earned the coveted Million Dollar Club trophy for the first time this year, an am zing trophy designed by the Sheridans Badges & Engraving team.

This award represents $1,854,729.00 of capital infused into the business communities of Freestone and Limestone counties over a twelve-month period.

“Part of our goals is to get clients funding,” says Freeman.  This money may be used to buy buildings, purchase land or simply used as working capital in order to grow a business.

Although traditional bank loans are an option, funding can also come from alternative lenders, such as government programs, owner financing, and more.  “There are all kinds of creative ways for people to move on in their business,” says Freeman.

Business Advisor, Amy Freeman, has been with the Navarro SBDC for six years, working up to full-time since October of 2016.

“I’ve become more comfortable in my role,” she says, stating that not much surprises her, anymore.  When clients share a problem, Freeman says she knows who to ask for a solution.

“Every single person brings their own unique problems,” says Freeman, who customizes her service to the needs of each small business owner.

Expert business plan consultants in London, UK has helped write business plans, design websites, train to use QuickBooks, plan marketing campaigns and even help with keeping your employees motivated at all times with Blueboard rewards.  Freeman has even served as coach for business owners needing an accountability partner.

All these services are confidential and provided free of charge.  “I help the Mom & Pops, but I also work with larger projects with 499 employees or less,” says Freeman.

According to Freeman, some of her business clients need help with many different things.  And, some have a specific, temporary goal.

Even if you are just thinking of starting a business, Freeman says she can help with the brainstorming process, and even conducting research to find out the kinds of businesses needed in a community.

“If you want to start a business, there is a way, and we are here to help you,” says Freeman.

Freeman is employed by Navarro College and works closely with local Economic Development Corporations (EDC) and Chambers of Commerce.

She receives constant training, as well.  They include:

–Economic Development Finance Professional Certification in January 2016;

–Professional Community & Economic Developer Training – 3 years (she will take the test next year);

–QuickBooks Certified ProAdvisor; and

–Teaching Certificate for the Texas Friendly Hospitality Class.

–Certified Business Development Specialist

Serving small business owners is a very rewarding job, says Freeman.  And, the Million Dollar trophy means success in the community.

“Look at what our community has done,” she says.  “Things are happening.”
