OCTOBER 2016 RAINFALL ALMOST FIVE INCHES BELOW NORMAL

October 2016 rainfall fell almost five inches short of normal with only 0.36 inch of rain and booted January out of the number one spot as the driest month so far this year. However, October’s 14.36 inches of rainfall last year put it in the number one spot as the wettest month of the year over the past 22 years with a normal rainfall of 5.30 inches.
There were only two days with measurable rainfall in October with a one day greatest total of 0.28 inch on October 20. Rainfall for the year now stands at 44.67 inches or 8.70 inches above normal at this point and 0.86 inch above normal for the entire year.
Temperature-wise, high temperatures ranged from the upper 70’s to the low 90’s. There were very few days with cloud cover which kept highs mostly in the upper 80’s. On the low side, temperatures were mostly in the upper 60’s and low 70’s but we did have some lows in the 50’s and one chilly 46 degree low on October 21.

LOOKING AHEAD TO NOVEMBER: Normal rainfall for November is 3.86 inches. Temperature-wise, November does produce    some frosty mornings and occasionally a freeze or two.
