November 2021 rainfall came in below normal at 1.86 inches. We had four days with measureable rainfall with a one-day greatest total of 0.71 inch on November 11. Our normal rainfall for November is 2.83 inches.

We are above normal on rainfall for the year at 42.44 inches. However, without the 12.92 inches of rain we received in May, we would be well below normal for the year. We have had below normal rainfall for seven of the past eleven months. Normal rainfall through November is 40.59 inches.

Our record wettest November was 12.26 inches in 2000. The record driest November was 0.64 inch in 2012.

On the temperature side, November temperatures were about normal with highs mostly in the mid to upper 70’s. We had a high temperature of 82 on November 17. Low temperatures were mostly in mid 40’s to mid 50’s with a low of 35 degrees on November 19. We did have a couple of frosty mornings.

Looking ahead to December:

December marks the beginning of winter and is normally our second coldest month of the year. Freezes are likely and we have had our coldest temperature of the year in December in the past and some snow.

Our normal rainfall for December is 4.04 inches. For the record, our wettest December was 10.81 inches of rain in 2015 and the driest December was 0.41 inch in 2005.

Normal rainfall data used was derived from average rainfall over the 20-year period from 2001 through 2020.

The above rainfall and temperature data was recorded by Barney Leach, former co-op weather volunteer for the National Weather Service and former weather volunteer for channel 8 in Dallas, channel 10 in Waco and radio station KNES in Fairfield.
