THE BLUEGRASS BAND CALLED TIN TOP ROAD (above), opening entertainers for the COUNTRY FAIR, is comprised of Dennis Conn (Elkhart), Jeff Harrison (Fairfield), Steve Partain (Fairfield), Cliff Allen, (Fairfield) and Cathy Partain (Fairfield).

Inspired by the simplicity and innocence of life in bygone eras, the COUNTRY FAIR, a one-day festival of fun, food and family is slated for Saturday, September 14, from 10 am to 4 pm in Fairfield.
The event is a fundraiser for the “Complete the Lobby” campaign organized by a group of Freestone County residents who support the Community Food Bank through volunteerism. The COUNTRY FAIR is the culmination of the group’s campaign to raise funds to finish the Community Food Bank warehouse’s lobby space, which is now an empty shell.
“Clients can complete paperwork, interact with staff and get food in the new lobby. Also, there will be a Kid’s Zone for families of clients as well as written and electronic communications linking clients with social services resources,” said Mary Schutz, Richland Chambers Lake area resident and volunteer for the Community Food Bank. “Our September 14th event is for the whole family, where good fun, good food, good music and booths selling the wares of local artisans will merge.”
The festivities will be held on the grounds where River of Life Family Worship Center and the Community Food Bank reside, at 1201 E. Commerce Street, Fairfield, TX, 75480. Everyone is invited to attend as there will be activities for all ages.
Goings-on at the early autumn event will be music and dance performances, how-to demonstrations, sales of delicious homemade baked goods and frozen casseroles; 50/25/25% raffle; “Car Smash” where for $10, you can take three swings with a sledgehammer at an old hearse in an effort to bring “death to hunger”; Instagram photo booths; food concessions; lots of crafts and merchandise booths and more.
Bring your children to the Kids Zone. They’ll enjoy jumping in bounce house, playing supervised games and making crafts but the best part is it’s all FREE in the Zone. Take a close-up look at emergency vehicles including the medical transport helicopter and learn about animals from the Fairfield Lake State Park rangers. Also, a “dunkin’ booth” will provide an opportunity to submerge a school representative or an elected official (past and present) — all in fun, of course!
