Animal lovers will now have an easier time locating and reuniting pets with their owners, thanks to the creation of a Facebook page for the City of Teague’s Animal Control Department.
Matt Stentz, Code Enforcement/Animal Control Officer for the City, addressed Aldermen at the November 21, 2016 Council Meeting regarding the need for an up-to-date resource for residents missing pets.
With the Council’s approval, Stentz immediately launched the City of Teague Animal Control page.
Photos of animals, along with the address and date that they were picked up, will be posted to this page in real time.
All animals picked up by Animal Control are taken to Adkins Veterinary Service, located at 158 I-45 South in Fairfield, where they are held for the mandated seventy-two hours. If the animal is not claimed by that time, they are put up for adoption or scheduled for euthanasia.
Impound fees are $65 per dog/cat, payable at Teague City Hall. Adkins Vet will have their own fees and state-regulated laws.
Pet owners searching for their animals are encouraged to check the page, or contact City Hall at 254-739-2547, or Adkins Veterinary Service at 903-389-6838.
