A shiny new Frazer Bilt ambulance has been added to the fleet for Fairfield EMS. The unit is one of two Ambulances purchased by Freestone County Commissioners Court with ARPA funds and will help save lives in Freestone County.
Fairfield Ambulance Service Inc. dba Fairfield EMS has been serving the great people of Freestone County and the City of Fairfield for over 45 years. Fairfield Ambulance Service has come from a small volunteer service to a fully paid service over the years to compensate with the ever growing demand of emergency healthcare.
Fairfield EMS is a private non-profit ambulance service governed by a board of directors. Fairfield EMS responds to approximately 2500 calls a year. The objective is to provide Fairfield and the citizens of Freestone County with a reliable ambulance service that provides a minimal response time and trained personnel.
Fairfield EMS staffs one ambulance with two certified personnel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This “911” ambulance is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Fairfield EMS also staffs a second ambulance with two certified personnel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The second crew is to assist in providing ambulance services for transfers out of our local hospital and for “911” services. In times of need, Fairfield EMS staffs three ambulances to assist in operations as needed, for transfers, assist in “911” responses, also providing ambulance coverage for local football games, rodeos, and other various events.
“We are excited to take delivery of the new ambulance! It is a much needed asset to Freestone County and the citizens we serve” Stated Billy Perez, Fairfield EMS Director. .
The ambulance has several modern safety and technological features, such as an ultraviolet light disinfection system that cleans and decontaminates the breathable air inside the unit, a refrigerated safe to secure medications, a 120V generator-powered electrical system, and Safety Cloud by HAAS alert. Safety Cloud delivers real-time slow-down and move alerts to drivers in front of the unit, which reduces the risk of collision by 90%.
