Dabrett Black, charged in the shooting death of Texas DPS Trooper Damon Allen, was in court Thursday afternoon, September 27, 2018 for a second pretrial.

Attorneys from both sides of the case met behind closed doors for approximately 30 minutes prior to appearing before Judge Patrick Simmons.

No Pretrial Motions were made by either side. Together, they requested to set the date of Thursday, January 10, 2019 for a third pretrial, stating that they should be able to set a trial date at that time.

“We need to get this matter to trial in a timely manner,” states Judge Simmons. “I will allow another pretrial on January 10, 2019, provided dates will be set for trial when we meet.”
