History was in the making at this year’s Livestock Show Sale with a brother and sister walking away with the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Steer, both bought by NIP Ranch / Ivy Phillips and Nadine Phillips.
Although the land for sale were down a bit from last year, Freestone County buyers spent an impressive amount in supporting our youth.
Total sales were $365,775 for 130 home-raised animals. Add-ons the day of the sale totaled $115,775 for a grand total of $481,550 for the 2019 Livestock Show Sale.
Add-ons are still being accepted.
There was a nice breeze under the sale barn on this sunny Saturday, June 15, 2019 as auctioneer Clint Minchew welcomed everyone to the Freestone County “World’s” Fair.
After applauding the buyers Minchew made special mention that several working the sale table were former animal exhibitors who were giving back to the community. “Keeping the community together,” he said. “That’s why we’re here.”
Also recognized were this year’s exhibitors, their parents, and members of the Fair Board. “It took a whole lot to make this happen,” added Minchew.
Sounding like a young George Strait, Kall Collins of Teague FFA gave a wonderful rendition of the National Anthem, followed by a prayer before bidding started on the Floors for steer, hog, lamb and goats.
Auctioneer James Grant took over to take bids on the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion animals.
