The Teague Lions district opener on the road was a rousing success with a 54-7 win over the winless Eustace Bulldogs on Friday night.

J’Kybryan Harris had a 37 yard touchdown run and Leija added a pair of scoring runs on the night for the Lions offensive explosion and a big halftime lead.

Nyland Coaster, the sophomore running back and kick returner, had a 70 yard kickoff return to add to the lead.

The Malakoff Tigers lead the district at 2-0 and Groesbeck and Teague trail by a half game since they have both had their bye weeks.

Fairfield and Mexia are locked in a tie at 1-1 and will take on each other in Fairfield on Friday night.

Teague will host the Malakoff Tiger in what would be the district title game a season ago and could be the same scenario for this season.
