Christmas celebrations are in full swing for the next two weeks in Freestone County, Texas.

From lighted parades to ice slide, these annual events are sure to bring a sparkle to the eyes of kids from all ages.

Santa will be kept busy visiting with the children during the first weekend of December.

THIS WEEK

–Thursday, Dec. 7th

The City of Teague will host their annual Christmas Parade of Lights down Main Street beginning at 6:00 p.m. For those wanting to enter the parade, the rules are simple. Each entry must include lights, no live Santas, and throwing candy is allowed. No forms needed, simply line up at the Elementary school at 5:30 p.m.

That same evening, the First United Methodist Church of Teague will host their annual Hamburger Supper at the Teague Community Center from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Cost is $10 per plate, carry-out only.

Kids can also visit with Santa after the parade!

–Saturday, Dec. 9th

Christmas at the Campsites in Fairfield will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the W.L. Moody Reunion Grounds. Attendees are invited to enjoy music, refreshments and shopping through the fairgrounds. Campsites will be decorated for the holidays and face painting will be available for the kids. This event is presented by the W.L. Moody Campsite Association. Cookies with Santa at the B-RI Railroad Museum in Teague will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Come visit Santa and enjoy cookies & gifts for the children!

AND BEYOND

–Wed., Dec 13th

The annual Christmas on the Bricks will be held this evening in downtown Wortham. Enjoy a hot bowl of chili at Wortham VFD beginning at 6:00 p.m. Then, visit with Santa Claus and keep warm with hot chocolate and treats.

–Fri., Dec 15th

Christmas Story Time at Fairfield Library will include visits with Santa Claus beginning at 5:30 p.m. Children can enjoy the Polar Express story book, decorating cookies, hot cocoa and pictures with Santa.

–Sat., Dec 16th

Kids are invited to come out for Breakfast with Santa at the Teague Hotel from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Teague Chamber of Commerce will be serving up pancakes and hot chocolate. Attend in your pajamas and get a picture with Santa!

Fairfield’s Jingle All the Way event returns this year. Held 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on the courthouse square in Fairfield, this event will include Ice Slides, Activities, Vendors, Food Trucks, and more.

This month’s Teague Farmers Market includes the 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off, Toy Drive, and Ugly Christmas Sweater Party in downtown Teague, Texas. Market will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Come out and enjoy the fun.

Stewards Mill Christmas Homecoming will be held at the historic church beginning at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy the Christmas story under candlelight. Everyone is welcome to bring finger foods to share.
