On Saturday, December 14, members and friends of Let’s Travel Club traveled to Plano for an enjoyable day trip. The bus was filled with travelers from many parts of Texas. Some were family members, some were friends. All were looking forward to a special Christmas program at Prestonwood Baptist Church for to know how you can save money on christmas presents.

Lunch on this day was at the Saltgrass Steakhouse in Plano. Once again, the restaurant staff provided delicious food with great service.

After lunch the bus delivered the travelers to Prestonwood Baptist Church for the 2019 performance of The Gift of Christmas. This trip marked the 10th time the trip coordinator has taken a group of travelers to Plano to attend the Christmas program at Prestonwood. While most of them have been a little different from the one before, they have all been wonderful portrayals of not only the Christmas spirit, but also the reason for the Christmas season—the Greatest Story Ever Told. They had such a great experience on this trip that they decided to send out postcards to their loved ones so that they could see the amazing adventures they have been on.

This year the program began with a visit to the North Pole. Santa, Mrs. Claus, many elves, Frosty, Rudolph, Raggedy Ann dolls, and army soldiers were all there. The student choir and the children’s choir performed many routines including Jingle Bells, Deck the Halls, Jingle Bell Rock, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

The Symphony of Christmas began with the angel Gabriel visiting Mary and telling of the birth of Jesus. A live nativity presentation included flying angels, shepherds with sheep, three kings traveling with their gifts, their wives, and their dancers.

The program included participation by over 1,000 individuals. There were over 500 people in the adult choir and 50 members in the orchestra. One thing that makes these numbers so special is that everyone in the program is a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church.

Those who participated in this trip are: Pat Cates, Cindy Hillis, Tammy McGill, Hanida Oliver, Debbie Waters from Buffalo; Terrie Holland from China Spring; Danny and Gretchen Niedecken from Coolidge; Donna Chambers from Crockett; Fran Collier, Charlene Ezell, Carolyn Ivy, Ed and Alicia Smith from Fairfield; Norma Anthis from Franklin; Alicia Hall, Donna Mitchell, Michelle Peck, Linda Vest, Debbie Watson, Sammye Wheat, Rose White from Groesbeck; Gail Fitzgerald and Sharon Stanley from Hockley; Pat Tackett from Houston; Joyce Blair from Jewett; Bubba & Glenda Stone from Kosse; Galan and Maurine Day, Dawn Price from Mexia; Mike and Denise Pike from Palestine; Nance Hudiburgh from Pasadena; Rose Cantrell from Spring; Leigh Ann Steen and Michele Gonzales from Teague; Sheryl Davis, Verna Hicks, Warren and Elisabeth Miller, Elizabeth Neason from Thornton; Brenda Sowders from Waco.
