The Fairfield Lady Eagles received some stellar pitching in the circle for the Fairfield Lady Eagles, however they split the games and complete a second place 19-4A finish and head to the softball playoffs.

Rebecca Dunlap completed six innings and allowed one earned run and had three strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to the Rusk Lady Eagles. Rusk had a single in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie.

Fairfield tied the game in the top of the fourth inning when Bailey Jones doubled in two runs. It was her only hit of the game but it put the Lady Eagles in the game.

Fairfield had a defensive gem and terrific pitching in a 4-0 blanking of the Mexia Ladycats in the district finale to break a tie for second place. Dunlap scattered two hits over seven innings and had ten strikeouts, and then added two hits from the plate to complete an outstanding effort for Fairfield.

Fairfield will take on the Hunnington Lady Red Devils in the first round of the Region III playoffs. All games will be played at Rusk High School with game one on Wednesday at 6:30. Game two will be on Thursday at 5:00 and game three will be Friday at 5:00, if necessary.
