The Wortham Lady Bulldogs played in the two-day Valley Mills tournament on Thursday and Saturday. Wortham ended up in second after pool play on Thursday after losing to Connally and beating Gatesville JV and Itasca.

The Lady Bulldogs started Saturday’s morning bracket play facing Connally again. Wortham beat the Cadets in three sets: Won 25-12, Lost 15-25, and winning 25-20.

Madison Newhouse had 8 kills and 5 digs.
Riley Winstead had 6 kills and 4 blocks.
Dakota Butler had 4 kills and 7 digs.
Ziah Betts had 4 kills and 2 blocks.
Ava Carr had 2 blocks.

Setter Ana Colquette had 16 assists, 1 kill, and 2 digs.
Setter Kylie Reed had 4 assists.

Libero Ameeya Rhodes had 7 digs.

After advancing, Wortham faced Valley Mills. Wortham lost the first set 22-25 but came back strong taking the next two sets, 25-16 and 25-16 to advance to the championship game.

Riley Winstead had 9 kills and 3 blocks.
Dakota Butler had 7 kills and 8 digs.
Madison Newhouse had 6 kills and 5 digs.
Ziah Betts had 2 kills and 2 blocks.
Ava Carr had 1 kill and 3 blocks.

Setter Ana Colquette had 13 assists, 1 kill, 2 digs, and 1 ace. Kylie Reed had 4 assists and one dig.

Libero Ameeya Rhodes had 6 digs.

Wortham had to face Valley Mills again in the championship match and took the title in 2 sets, 25-10 and 25-13.

Dakota Butler had 5 kills and 6 digs.
Riley Winstead had 5 kills and 1 block.
Madison Newhouse had 4 kills and 5 digs.
Ziah Betts had 3 kills and 3 blocks.
Ava Carr had 1 one and 3 blocks.

Setter Ana Colquette had 12 assists and 2 digs. Kylie Reed had 4 assists and one dig.

Libero Ameeya Rhodes had 5 digs and defense specialist Kate Spain had one dig.

The Lady Bulldogs won the title at the Valley Mills Tournament bringing their overall record to 15-9.

Madison Newhouse earned the tournament MVP along with Dakota Butler and Ana Colquette earning All Tournament.
Newhouse and Butler lead the Lady Bulldogs in serve receive, defense and offense while Colquette lead the team in setting and all around play.

The Lady Bulldogs will face Frost and Teague in this week’s upcoming matches.
