Julian Russell Wise, Sr., 86, resident of Butler, Texas, passed away in peace after receiving the Last Rites, and in the presence of his family on Thursday, October 18, 2018, following a sudden, but serious, illness at the age of 86.

He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Nancy Sue Amburn Wise.

He was a loving father to his 5 children, Debra Wise Matthews (Kelly), Julia Roxanne Davis (DJ), Leland Stewart Wise, Julian Russell Wise, Jr. (Binky), and Stephen Patrick Anthony Wise (Stephanie) and the proud grandfather (Pappy) to his 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Julian is further survived by his brother, Hunter Russell Wise, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Julian was born December 30, 1931 in Dallas, Texas to Hunter Russell Wise and Julia Ray Davis Wise.

His younger years were spent in Wortham, Texas, with summers at the family home in Butler.

He graduated from North Dallas High School and attended college at Oklahoma University.

He met Nancy, the love of his life and high-school sweetheart, at North Dallas High School. After their marriage, he worked the majority of his life in construction as a civil engineer.

Julian was a Catholic man of strong faith and he will be fondly remembered as a kind, hardworking, honest, ethical, and loving man. He was the strong and sturdy root on which his family stood, and he will be deeply missed by all.

A private graveside service was held at Mays Cemetery in Butler, Texas on Friday October 19th, officiated by Father Robert Bowlin, and a memorial Mass was celebrated at Saint Kateri Tekakwtha Catholic Church in Buffalo, Texas at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday October 20, 2018.
