Congratulations to Wortham High School’s graduating class of 2023 Valedictorian Grecia Juarez and Salutatorian Kaydence Carr.

“I feel extremely blessed and honored,” said Grecia, after learning she had earned the title of Valedictorian.

Grecia is the daughter of Edna and Jorge Artemio Juarez. Proud siblings include Raisa, Alexander, and Kalila.

During her high school career at Wortham, Grecia was a member of the National Honors Society. She served as Cheer manager, competed in Track and Volleyball for two years, and played in the Mighty Bulldog Band for two years.

Grecia was also a member of the Spanish Club, competed in UIL Spelling and Ready Writing, and served as HOSA President.

She is a graduate of Wortham’s EMT Academy, earning certification through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians and the Texas Department of State Health Services.

Grecia was selected as Miss WHS, received the Principal’s award her Sophomore year, and consistently made the A/B Honor Roll.

Outside of school activities, Grecia served as a volunteer for Wortham’s annual Blues Festival, Fall Festival, 4th of July Parade, as well as the ‘War on Hogs’ and ‘Christmas on the Bricks’ events.

Hobbies include doing makeup for special events as a side job.

Her advice to underclassmen is to “Enjoy every moment you have in school. Try new things, talk to new people, and just have fun. This is only the beginning.”

A favorite teacher is Mrs. Mclaughlin. “She motivated me in finding my passion in healthcare and made sure I never gave up on my goals,” said Grecia. “I’m very grateful to heave had her as a mentor.”

What Grecia most appreciates about Wortham High School is “the time our staff took to ensure we would become the very best we could be.”
Finally, Grecia said, “Never forget your roots and where you come from. Stay humble and appreciate what you have.”

Grecia will be attending Navarro College in Corsicana to study Nursing. “I want to be able to give back to the world through love and care,” she said. “Everyone deserves the best care in order to live their life.”

She graduates WHS with a 3.96 GPA.

During her high school years, Kaydence was inducted as a member of the National Honor Society and elected to Student Council.

She also received academic honors in English 4.

After hours, Kaydence stayed busy through babysitting and enjoyed reading as a hobby.

Her advice to underclassmen is, “Try your best, even if you don’t think you will succeed.”

Favorite teacher is Mrs. Fleming and the staff of the Wortham Elementary office. “The office ladies helped me gain like skills and helped me navigate through Senior year,” said Kaydence. “Mrs. Fleming helped ignite my love for learning again.”

What she appreciates most about Wortham High School is “how small we are as a community, because we all know and care for each other.”

Finally, Kaydence said, “All you have to do is want to be successful and work hard.”

Kaydence will be attending Navarro College in Corsicana to study Psychology, “so I can help people.”
