John Rogers Perona, Sr. 83, of Fairfield, died Sunday, August 21, 2016 in Temple.  Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2016 at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Richard Heyduck officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.  Visitation is Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Capps Memorial Chapel. 
Mr. Perona was born November 3, 1932 in Byers, Texas to parents John Franklin and Lucy Rotta Perona.  He served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict.  On August 19, 1955 he married Chris Myers in Corsicana, Texas. They celebrated 61 years of marriage last Friday.  Mr. Perona was a retired engineer with Con-Tel Telephone Co.  He was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Fairfield.  He was a member of Fairfield Lodge #103 A.F & A.M. and a Scottish Rite Mason.  He was active in many capacities for 25 plus years, including coaching with Little League in Fairfield.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, John Rogers Perona, Jr. in 1975.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Chris; two daughters, Deborah Ann Perona Harris  and husband Bobby of Lake Jackson, TX; Pamala Kay Perona Zornosa and husband Roberto of Streetman, TX; two brothers, Waymond Perona of Hometead, FL; Jerry Perona of Macedonia, Ohio; a half-brother, Stanley Bielicki of Lehigh, PA; one sister, Jane Shuetz of Sagamore Hills, Ohio; four grandchildren, Roger Wilson, Jr., Johnna Smith, Stephanie Ann Hilliard and Billy John Latham; fifteen great-grandchildren.
