Over 800 Freestone County voters cast their ballots on the first day of Early Voting last week, according the Alicia Davis, Chief Deputy Clerk with the Freestone County Clerk’s office.

Early Voting continues through Friday, October 30, 2020 with two locations in Freestone County: The Civic Center in Fairfield and City Hall in Teague.

Keeping a close eye on voter turnout is Fairfield Hospital District Administrator Tony Price, who reported that in the first four days of Early Voting, a total 1,715 citizens voted in Freestone County precincts that are part or all inside the FHD District.

On the ballot is a special proposition for reducing the tax rate for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

A vote “For” the proposition would mean a refund for property tax that has already been collected, essentially 0.077797 cents per $100 property valuation from last year’s valuations (NOT the ones mailed to landowners in recent months).

A for “Against” the proposition would allow Fairfield Hospital District to keep those monies.

Also included in the Hospital District is a portion of Navarro County. According to Price, and additional 104 citizens voted in Navarro County precincts that are part or all inside the FHD District boundaries.

It is important to note that just because an individual lives within a particular voting precinct does not assure that they reside in the Fairfield Hospital District boundaries.
