McLennan County Extension Service is hosting the “Home Canning Workshop” at the Extension Office located at 4224 Cobbs Drive, Waco Texas 76710. Class will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

This hands-on class will teach you to prepare and can food in a water bath canner and pressure canner.

Instructor Rachel Esquivel, in partnership with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, will teach you how to prepare foods and jars, following a tested and approved recipe, and can foods in the class that will be finished and ready to take home at the end.

You will learn about different types of canners and how to prepare different high acid foods including fruits, tomatoes, jams, jellies, and pickled products.

Home canning of your own produce as ingredients can be a very economical way to serve healthy meals for your family. The cost for this program is $50.00
