Our new superintendent Dr. Jason Adams will be here full time on Monday, March 4th.  Jason is excited about the opportunity to serve here.
It has been my honor since 1985 to be identified as an employee of Fairfield ISD.  I have traveled broadly around Texas during my tenure and attended many conferences, meeting and countless academic/athletic events wearing FISD logo shirts and I have NEVER felt anything but pride with my association with our district.  Fairfield ISD is still an old school institution that believes that all teachers can teach and all kids can learn.  We still believe that kids and staff can and should be respectful to each other.  It is our community expectation that our kids represent US with tenacity that is tempered with class and good sportsmanship.
Fairfield ISD was great when I got here 30+ years ago and it is great now.  The qualities of this organization is not based on who sits in the superintendent office, but our greatness is based on the expectations of our community, staff and students to achieve more than is required because our collective expectations exceed the norm.  Our students are respectful because we expect (and model) for them to be respectful and when individuals are not respectful, we effectively communicate that they are not in-line with FISD standards.  We have consistently held staff and students to a higher standard, because that is what FISD does.  Our academic expectations are not based on STARR testing, but in a belief that we should be teaching the WHOLE child to their God given potential.
I welcome Jason to FISD and know that he shares the old school values of this school/community.  He is here to get his son a high quality education and to maintain/expand the greatness that FISD is respected for.
The roles that I have had with FISD since 1985 have rarely been easy, but as Garth Brooks wrote several years ago, ā€œI could have missed the pain, but Iā€™d have had to miss the dance.ā€  Thanks for allowing me to partner with you and our community for a very special dance as administrator of FISD.
Have a nice day and a grand life!
