Fairfield Police Department’s newest officer is Miss Markeisha Cox.
Officer Cox is a ‘home-grown’ Fairfield gal, born and raised here and a member of the 2010 Fairfield High School graduating class.
From 2013 to 2015, Officer Cox served as a prison guard at the Boyd Unit before entering and graduating the Navarro College Police Academy in 2015.
She was hired on at Teague Police Department straight out of the Academy and served there until she was hired on at Fairfield.
Officer Cox was sworn in as a Peace Officer for Fairfield PD on February 20, 2019.
“I’m excited to be working in Fairfield,” she says. “It’s such a wonderful community. I’m glad to be around friendly faces and people who support law enforcement.”
The daughter of Yolonda Castile and Kelso Deckard, Officer Cox comes from a policing family. Her maternal grandfather served as a deputy for Freestone County Sheriff’s Office in the early 1990s and her mother served Fairfield PD as an officer for a few years as well.
Officer Cox is the mother of one five-year-old daughter, Kennedy.
She would like the community to know that she is very much a people person and very approachable, so don’t be afraid to speak to her if you come across her out and about town.
