A grand opening for a new business is scheduled this Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 9 am until 6 pm for Fairfield’s newest gun shop and sporting goods store.
‘Get A Gun Sports’ is offering numerous brands of rifles, pistols and ammunition after owner Randy De Vries purchased the former Marathon Oil Company building in May of 2023. Remodeling of the facility began immediately as the new owner is required to comply with Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) requirements for the selling of firearms and ammunition.
Rifle brands offered are Winchester, Remington, Ruger, Bergara, Weatherby, all types of AR platform rifles and in all calibers. All brands of pistols are available in both ‘concealed carry’ and full-size. Brands include Beretta, Browning, Bersa, Ruger, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, F&N, Rock Island Armory, Glock, and Springfield. Numerous brands and calibers of ammunition are also available. Special orders can be made and all components needed to build an AR platform rifle are available.
Another part of ‘Get A Gun Sports’ which has drawn a great amount of interest is their Indoor Golf Simulator. Golfers can choose one of more than 350 courses from around the world to test their skills. Other courses can be requested and made available to golfers if they call in advance. Clubs are available to use or you can bring your own. One player can play for $20 per hour or two for $30. If you book on line, you can save 50%.
Hotdogs and drinks will be available throughout the day. A Smith and Wesson 9 mm pistol ($450 value) will be raffled with tickets selling for $10 each. The drawing will be held at 6 pm Saturday evening. The winner must be eligible to purchase and own a firearm.
De Vries was born in Corona, California and lived most of his life in the Central Valley area. His family operated a large dairy cattle operation until 2015. The California native then started an almond tree operation until 2022 when he decided it was time to leave the west coast and move to Texas. He purchased a home and ranch near Teague in April 2022 and began a beef cattle operation.
