The Friends of Fort Boggy State Park will meet Thursday, January 19th at 12 noon at the City of Centerville Municipal Building across from the Post Office for its Annual Meeting and final preparations for the 6th Annual Kid Fish. A light lunch will be served at 11:30 am.

Three Directors are nominated annually. The following persons have been nominated to serve on the Board of Directors: Mike Henderson, Diana LeBlanc and Chris Van Hooser. Other nominations can be made from the floor at the Annual Meeting. We will also be electing officers for 2023.

During the meeting we will also discuss final preparations for the 6th Annual Kid Fish at Fort Boggy State Park slated for Saturday, Feb. 25th. If necessary, goodie bags for the participants will be prepared at the end of the Annual Meeting.

The 6th Annual Kid Fish is for children 5-12 years of age. With only two sessions to choose from and limited space available (50 children per session) we encourage parents to register early. Registration is now open, and will close when spaces are filled or Feb. 17th whichever comes first. Pre-registration is highly encouraged with a limited number of walk-ins allowed. Each participating child will receive a new rod-n-reel at the end of each session. Loaner rod-n-reels will be distributed for tournament use. If a participant wishes to use their own rod-n-reel, only hooks will be allowed – no lures will be permitted. One fishing tournament will be held during each session and trophies will be awarded. For more information or to register contact the park office at (903) 344-1116 , 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.daily.

If anyone would like to volunteer or be a sponsor for this year’s Annual Kid Fish contact The Friends of Fort Boggy at friendsoffortboggy@gmail.com.

Meetings are open to the public and we encourage all to join us in our efforts to preserve and protect the natural and cultural resources of Fort Boggy State Park.
