Freestone Medical was informed this week that another challenge has been added to its on-going supply chain challenges. “Masks have been added to our weekly supply ‘allocation’ meaning that we only get a limited quantity of such items each week instead of being able to order whatever quantities we want” stated CEO John Yeary. “When critical supplies go on allocation, it creates the need for us to conserve and ensure we do not waste,” he said.

There has been some confusion on the issue of masking, especially in Texas where our governor has taken a more open stance to businesses and a return to normal daily operations. As a hospital, Freestone Medical Center and Health Clinics fall under federal jurisdiction as opposed to the state. As such, it is required by federal authorities to continue to require masking inside the hospital and clinic facilities.

“Masking is one area the public can actually help us and help us a great deal” said FMC Clinic Director, John Stewart. “If you are coming to one of the Freestone Health Clinic locations for a visit or appointment, please bring your own mask. It doesn’t matter if it is cloth or one of the medical variety,” he said. “Freestone Medical will continue to have masks available for patients, but supplies are being limited. Help us by bringing your own mask.”

Freestone Health Clinics are located in Fairfield, Teague and Buffalo. As a participating provider in the Medicare and Medicaid programs, the clinics are required to have patients and visitors wear masks in public areas of the facilities.
