The Fairfield Lady Eagles volleyball team reached the playoffs as the champion of District 20-3A. They have now reached the third round of the playoffs and will face Troy with a birth in the Region III tournament on the line.
Fairfield took on Rockdale in the first round and won the match with a three games to one final (25-17, 25-12, 24-26, 25-22). Avery Thaler made her mark on the match with 28 kills and 20 digs. McKinna Brackens finished the match with 16 kills, and Averi Minze had 11 digs and Lily Beaver added 23 digs. Other lady Eagles playing well in the match were Avery Strait with 11 kills and Taylor Stone with 17 digs.
The area round opponent for the Lady Eagles was the West Lady Trojans and Fairfield dominated the match by sweeping in three games (25-15, 25-20, 25-8). Thaler was productive in the match with four blocks, 15 digs, and ten kills. McKinna Brackens had 20 kills and Avery Minze added 17 assists, while Richardson has 18 assists.
The Wortham Lady Bulldogs advanced to the area round but lost to the Valley Mills Lady Eagles. In the opening round Wortham defeated Itasca (25-15, 25-9, 12-25, 25-7) and advanced to take on Valley Mills at Mart High School. Grace McCoslin, Dakota Butler, Allie McCoslin, Ana Colquette, RaShay Covey and Riley Winstead battled through game one and took a lead but a late surge by Valley Mills earned the Lady Eagles a game one 25-18 victory. The second game had some long rallies but the Lady Bulldogs fell in the game 25-15. The third and final game had some marks from Madison Newhouse and Ameeya Rhodes but Valley Mills took the game 25-20 and the match.
The Teague Lady Lions fell in the opening round to Troy (25-18, 25-16, 25-8).
