Stick Horse Exhibition

Stick Horse Barrel Racing for girls and Stick Bull Riding for boys will take place Monday, June 12th at the Ike Carden Pavilion following the Freestone County Fair parade.

The event is open to children 4 years old and under through 7 years old.

Mutton Bustin’

Mutton Bustin’ will be held during the professional rodeo at the Freestone County Fair & Rodeo!

Brave little boys and girls will compete for bragging rights and a champion buckle Friday, June 167th and Saturday, June 17th before the rodeo performance at 7:30 p.m.

Entries are limited to twenty competitors per night. Participants must be 3 years or older, weighing 50 lbs. or less, and may enter only once. Entrance fee is $15. Fee and entry forms must be turned in by Saturday, June 10th.

Entry forms are available at Texas Outfitters, Capps Ag Center, and Fairfield Farm & Ranch in Fairfield; and LaDonna’s in Teague.

New Events at County Fair – June 12-17, 2017

With less than three weeks before the County Fair.

Are you ready for the 2017 Home and Garden Show?

A couple of changes in this year’s Home and Garden Show include a lowered entry fee of $3.00; the addition of demonstration areas and educational displays; as well as the new Ag Mechanics Show ($20 entry fee).

Divisions in the Home and Garden Show include Sewing, Quilts, Needlework & Crafts, Food Preservations, Baked Goods, Photography, Art, Horticulture, and Agriculture Mechanics.

The show is open to all residents of Freestone County; and entries must be checked on Monday, June 12th between 7:00 a.m. and Noon at the Fairfield Civic Center. The $3 entry fee is due at time of check in.

Judging will be done by age categories to include: Kiddie Corner (4-7 year olds), Junior Youth (8-12 year olds), Senior Youth (13-18 year olds), Adults (19-64 year olds), and Senior Citizens (65 years or older).

Volunteers are needed throughout the week to sit in the Civic Center as fairgoers browse through entries.

Put On Your Best Duds for Annual Contest

Entries are being sought for the Best Dressed Cowboy and Best Dressed Cowgirl annual contest, in conjunction with the Freestone County Fair & Rodeo.

Children, ages eight and under, are invited to join the Kick-off Parade on Monday, June 12th to participate in the Best Dressed Contest.

Participants will be judged at 6:00 p.m. in the parade line up.  Parade will start at 7:00 p.m.

Cowboy and Cowgirl participants must be able to sit a horse by themselves.  They may be lead by horse back or by a walker on the ground.

There is not an entry fee, but an entry form is required.  Information about the child will be shared with parade announcer and newspapers.
