At the recent state convention of the Texas Young Farmers Association, held in Temple, Texas, four member of the Teague Chapter were elected to the State Board. Stephanie Wood, who ably served as state president last year, will remain on the board to provide continuity. Herb Casey will serve as President-Elect, Chad Wood as Vice-President Area I and Lisa Brown, Vice-President of Area VIII.

Roy Ward of the Limestone County Chapter is Vice-President of Area VI. Roy, a senior at Texas A&M, was also recognized as first place winner of the Ag Communications Contest held in conjunction with the National Convention in Rogers, Arkansas, in December, 2018. His accomplishment earned him a trip to the Agriculture’s Promise Program in Washington, D.C. next month.

One of the major highlights of the State Convention was an address by The Honorable Cody Harris, recently elected Texas State Representative of District 8 (including Freestone County). His appearance was arranged by Doug Young, member of the Teague Chapter.

The Bi-Stone Area was well represented at the Convention by the following: Chad and Stephanie Wood, Herb and Jackie Casey, Kenneth and Lisa Brown, Toni Fox, Jamie Holland and Doug Young of the Teague Chapter; Kenny and Janis Bulger of the Fairfield Chapter; Don Beene, Gloria Roach, Bill Ward and Roy Ward of the Limestone County Chapter.

The Texas Young Farmers Association is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of students by supporting the local FFA Chapters in developing students’ potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
