Races have formed for local elections as the filing period ended Friday, February 15th, 2019.
Write-in candidates had a deadline of Tuesday, February 19th at 5:00 p.m.
Below are reported candidates as of last week. List may not be complete, as some entities were closed on press day, Monday, February 18th.
Elections are scheduled for May 4, 2019.
School Districts (Board of Trustees) Open Positions
–Fairfield: Up for election are 3 “At Large” positions.
Running for those positions are: incumbents Kim Whitaker and Greg Gibson, and O.B. Utley, IV.
–Teague: Up for election are Place 2 and Place 4.
Competing for those positions are: Place 2 – incumbent Brian Bowers and Place 4 – incumbent Jeff Gonzales.
–Wortham: Up for election are Place 3 and Place 4.
Vying for the positions are: Place 3 – incumbent Brent Jones and Place 4 – incumbent Sam Wright.
–Dew: Dew ISD holds elections in November
City Councilmen/Aldermen Open Positions
–Fairfield: Up for election are Place 3, Place 4, and Place 5.
Running for those positions are:
Place 3 – incumbent Keith Daniels and Robert Nichols,
Place 4 – incumbent Landis Bayless and Luke Ward, Jr., and
Place 5 – Jason Bosley and David Steward.
–Teague: – Up for election are Place 2, Place 4, and Place 5.
Competing for those positions are:
Place 2 – incumbent Ron Rasbeary, Dennis Cox, Wendy Bain, Melvin Mims, and Rhonda Jones;
Place 4 – Chris Nickleberry and Jamie West; and
Place 5 – Ryan Mathison and Lois Mims.
–Wortham: – Mayor and 2 “At Large” positions.
Vying for the positions are:
incumbent Cliff NeSmith and Scott Batts for the 2 “At Large” positions.
Running for Mayor are Pellie Goolsby and Frank McClellan.
–Streetman: Next election in 2020
