Music will definitely be in the air as Lakeside Methodist Church presents their last Fifth Sunday Sing event for the year.

The concert will be held Sunday evening, October 29, beginning at 6:15 pm.

Performers feature several St. Elmo community residents, including Bob Gage, former Freestone County Prosecutor; Betsy Metcalf, Lakeside secretary; Ron Haley, a Windstream technician; Lynette Engelholm, New Hope Baptist secretary; Lakeside Pastor Thomas Q Robbins and retired professional entertainers Tex & Mary Schutz.

“Our Fifth Sunday Sings are an informal concert of heartfelt gospel music,” said producer Mary Schutz. “We like to create an old-time country church atmosphere, where you’ll hear songs that you heard as a kid.”

“Sometimes the event features professionals who are touring nearby and sometimes they feature more local performers… and that’s how we’re putting this one together,” said Schutz. “It’s a chance to hear your friends and neighbors who love to sing as they share their music in a concert setting.”

Everyone is invited to this free activity. The only request is that each family bring an item or two for Lakeside’s food bank collection, which will then be given to the River of Life Food Pantry to be distributed to food-challenged residents of Freestone County.

Lakeside Methodist is located at 515 FM 416, just a few blocks west of the Shell station. For more information or directions, call 903-389-7586.
