The Grand Band twirlers will advance to state competition in Austin in the spring. The girls competed in a regional competition on September 23.

“I create my own routines for competition and practice it every day until I get it perfect,” senior Kristavia Nelms said. “I also try to have as much fun as I can when I practice.”

For competition, each had their own routine, as well as a group routine. The people who made a one in their solos are: senior Kristavia Nelms, junior Kylie Story, junior Suzune Awalt, junior Abigail Gallegos, junior Elizabeth Pillans, junior Morgan Roberson, sophomore Ava Gann, freshman Lauren Scott, and freshman Caleigh Taylor.

“I think of all of these girls as my family,” junior Kylie Story said. “I know all of us will do well at state.”
