TRAGEDY STRUCK in the early morning hours of Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2019 when a young Freestone County man lost his life in a vehicle accident on FM 489 near Burleson Lake.
Investigators report that the minivan driven by the deceased, Timothy Rutledge, 19, swerved into the other lane and struck a truck in a head on collision that closed the roadway for five and a half hours and sent the other driver to the hospital.
Responding to the scene were Butler and Dew Volunteer Fire Departments, Fairfield EMS, Texas DPS Troopers, Freestone County Sheriff’s Department, TxDOT, and Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Cinnamon Archibald.
