Fairfield’s own Madison Fuller is representing the State of Texas in the 2019 Miss America Competition this week.
Fifty-one candidates, including all fifty states and the District of Columbia, arrived in Atlantic City last week. They will participate in preliminary competitions are being held September 5, 6 and 7.
Madison grew up in Fairfield, Texas and is a graduate of Texas A&M University. She currently teaches Kindergarten in Tyler, Texas.
A longtime advocate for children battling cancer, Madison uses her talent as a ventriloquist to entertain and bring joy to the young patients she visits in hospitals across the state. Her social impact initiative is Sock it to Cancer: Pediatric Cancer Awareness.
Competing in the Miss America Competition has been a life-long dream for Madison Fuller.
The 2019 Miss America Competition will broadcast live on ABC this Sunday, September 9, 2018 beginning at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time (8:00 p.m. locally) at the Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
This year, there will no longer be a swimsuit competition or an evening gown requirement. Instead, contestants will be allowed to wear whatever makes them feel comfortable as they talk about their goals and accomplishments.
Even the new branding signals the change — this is Miss America 2.0.
