Looking Toward ‘Many Years to Come’

Holding court at the historic Mood-Bradley House on Saturday, May 15, 2021 was Mildred Burkhart of Fairfield, who recently observed her one hundredth birthday.

Paul Gaunt served as Master of Ceremony, which included lots of music, stories, and even a special proclamation from Mayor Kenneth Hughes.

As the proclamation was read aloud, listing her many accomplishments and service to the community, Mildred seemed most proud of the mention of her part in the Post Oak Girls Quartet, which performed on radio station KRLD.

Later in the program, when the Geriatrics Four Quartet performed, so Paul Burkhart related the story of how Mrs. Burkhart taught each of the four boys their part in the gospel song, ‘Hand in Hand With Jesus,’ stating that, “Since that day, we’ve never sung anything but gospel music.”

Pastor Terry Skinner of Calvary Baptist Church ended the ceremony with a prayer for their most faithful member, who had been active since she joined in 1942.

Happy birthday, Mildred!
