Last month, it was announced during a Fairfield City Council meeting that the Fairfield campus of Navarro College would be shutting down.

However, the welding Technology Program in Fairfield, Texas will continue.

In fact, registration for Fall 2018 is continuing until August 18, 2018. Visit online at www.navarrocollege.edu/academics/welding or call 1-800-628-2776.

Fairfield Economic Development Corporation (EDC) was instrumental in bringing the Welding Program to Fairfield. According to President David Fowler, Fairfield EDC continues that support by offering $5,000 in scholarships, each year.

The Welding Technology Program prepares Navarro College students for employment in the metal and construction trades by teaching them Mobile Welding techniques. This is a field that continues to grow and is very much in demand with a high family wage potential.

The Program includes classroom instruction and hands-on-training in metal trades including safety, blueprint reading, metallurgy, power sources, tools and materials, welding and layout, and fitting techniques.

Students will gain experience and get to know what’s welding exactly, competencies in all major welding, cutting and fabrication theory and processes. Students can earn a certificate or Associate of Applied Science. What is most exciting is that students that complete the program can look forward to getting to know more about welding contractor recruitment programs to find jobs to develop their skills.

Classes start on August 27, 2018 for the 1st 8-week and the 16-week terms. The 2nd 8-week term starts on October 22, 2018.

Registration for these Fall classes will be accepted until Saturday, August 18th at 5:00 p.m.
