“I appreciate the support of this community during all the years we have lived here,” says Fairfield Police Chief Kenny Bulger. “I’ve done my best to serve them to the best of my ability.”

Chief Bulger has officially retired from Fairfield PD as of Friday, November 30, 2018, after 11 years and 3 months of serving in his position as chief.

The City of Fairfield hosted a retirement lunch for Bulger and City employees on Thursday, November 29th, followed by a retirement party with cake and punch that was open to the entire community.

Chief Bulger was given best wishes by City personnel, employees (past and present), former City Administrators and Council Members, community members, as well as family and friends.

During the party, the City presented him with a .22 Derringer Pistol from North American Arms as a token of appreciation for his many years of hard work and dedication.

Prior to his time working for the City, Bulger was an officer with Texas Department of Public Safety, totaling 43 years in law enforcement.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working closer with the community in this job than I was allowed to when working with DPS. It gave me a chance to really get evolved with the community,” he says.

Speaking of working with the community, in his new free time, Bulger plans to increase his community service by volunteering more around town. “It keeps me off the street,” he says with a laugh.

He also says that he and wife Janet will be doing more traveling now that they are both retired.

Congratulations Chief Bulger! Enjoy your retirement!
