The Fairfield community continues to benefit from its monthly recycling program, held on the third Saturday of each month from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. behind Fairfield Junior High.

The next opportunity for residents to participate will be this Saturday, April 18, offering a convenient way to responsibly recycle common household materials such as paper, cardboard, plastics, and aluminum.

Each month, the program draws more than 150 community members and collects an impressive 5 to 7 tons of recyclable materials. The impact extends beyond environmental benefits, supporting both the local community and Fairfield ISD through ongoing student and volunteer involvement.

As Earth Day approaches on April 22, the April collection serves as a timely reminder of the small, consistent actions that make a lasting difference. Participating in local recycling efforts is one way community members can contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable Fairfield.

A key part of the program’s success is the dedication of its volunteers. Students, community members, and local organizations work together to ensure the event runs smoothly each month, creating an efficient and welcoming experience for those who participate. Their efforts reflect a strong sense of community pride and shared responsibility.

This initiative is made possible through continued partnership and support from the City of Fairfield and Waste Connections. Their commitment has allowed the program to remain a reliable resource for residents and Fairfield ISD while promoting sustainability and community engagement. As part of Waste Connections commitment to our community, they also offer two $1000 scholarships annually to FHS seniors.

With steady participation and strong local support, the Fairfield recycling program remains an important service that benefits both residents and the broader community.
