Fairfield nursing and Rehabilitation released a statement on Thursday, October 29, 2020, stating that they have had new staff and residents test positive for COVID-19 since their last post that is dated Wednesday, October 21, 2020.

Any staff that test positive is sent home. They will follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, along with the local health authority’s for staff member’s return to work.

All staff and residents wear their appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as per CDC guidelines.

All residents receive daily temperature checks and COVID-19 screenings three times per day, along with being educated on social distancing practices, infection control processes, and being provided with information on how to self-monitor and report symptoms to a nursing team member.

Staff is screened when they arrive for their shift, answer a COVID-19 questionnaire, and have their temperature taken. This screening log is given to the facility administration daily.

Staff has received extensive education, in-services, and of course the been taught the signs and symptoms of COVID-19.

The staff is also trained on proper infection control protocol, including: regular handwashing, correct usage and disposal of PPE, and social distancing.

The facility has enhanced disinfection and housekeeping measures.
High touchpoint and resident use areas receive regular cleaning, plus the housekeeping team are provided additional, extensive training on proper disinfection techniques, disposal of trash, and cleaning of linens.

Patient privacy is extremely important. The facility will not disclose the name of anyone who has tested positive or anything related.
Facility administration reports the number of active cases to state and federal agencies on a weekly basis, which can delay the numbers shown on websites.
