Getting the 411 on the 313 were Fairfield ISD School Board members during their Regular meeting on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.
As explained by Eddy Perez, attorney with Walsh / Gallegos, there is a possibility of solar farms coming to the area, and the 313 process allows for tax benefits for the company and financial benefits for the school district.
The board approved policy which will allow Fairfield ISD to move forward with a 313 application, if they choose to do so.
The District of Innovation (DOI) plan will be expiring this summer. Fairfield ISD is in the process of preparing their renewal; and plans to submit documentation to TEA and the Commissioner in the month of May. According to Superintendent Dr. Jason Adams, all information will be posted on the school’s website once the plan is approved by the DEIC and the Board.
Principal Sonya Gibson and Technology teacher Davin Davis presented an academic opportunity for High School students to gain foreign language credit through computer science. Computer science has been approved as an L.O.T.E. by SBEC and TEA, and our board approved the addition of the credit opportunity.
Also during this meeting, the board approved the purchase of 4 (14) passenger buses contingent on the bond election.
According to Superintendent Adams, current enrollment is 1672, and the state will provide financial assistance to all Texas public schools for ADA during the first 4 six week periods. Most districts experienced significant absences due to COVID outbreaks which had a major impact on funding.
Attendees were reminded that Early voting starts April 25th and ends May 3rd.
