Land Swap Approved for Dual Use Parking Lot at New Fairfield High School

Fairfield ISD is excited to partner with the City of Fairfield on a project that includes a property exchange and the construction of a new parking lot that will serve both Fairfield ISD and the City of Fairfield.

As part of the agreement, the City of Fairfield will convey approximately 4.5 acres of property located behind Eagle Stadium to Fairfield ISD. In exchange, Fairfield ISD will convey approximately two acres of property located across from the city softball fields and adjacent to Fairfield Cemetery, to the City of Fairfield. Youth flag football and soccer activities that have traditionally taken place in the park area will relocate to the practice fields at Fairfield Junior High.

The design and construction of the new high school will encompass much of the parking that has traditionally been used for Eagle Stadium over the years. The new parking lots that will be constructed to serve the main portion of the high school will be considerably farther away from the stadium entrance. The addition of this new parking lot will provide parking in closer proximity to the stadium entrance once it is complete.

This area will provide an additional point of ingress and egress for Eagle Stadium, as it will connect to Eagle Crossing as well as the road through the park. The parking lot will also provide convenient access to the City’s walking trail and serve visitors attending community events held at Fairfield City Park.

While the parking lot will not be complete for this football season, Pogue Construction will work with Fairfield ISD on a weekly basis to ensure fans continue to have access to park in this area on game days, as they have in previous years as long as weather permits safe parking in this area.

In addition, the district plans to provide golf cart shuttle service to assist guests with transportation from parking areas to the stadium entrance.

This partnership reflects the continued commitment of Fairfield ISD and the City of Fairfield to work together on projects that improve accessibility, enhance the game-day experience, support youth recreation, and benefit the entire community.
