In 2019/20 the Fairfield Hospital District Board asked our community to assist in keeping our hospital doors open by supporting a tax increase to $0.215/$100 taxable value were starting our journey to become an independent locally controlled facility after ETMC exited.
Our citizens voted to approve the new higher rate.
Since that time, our tax rate has been compressed by expanding taxable value in the district and was $0.134232 last year.
To create long-term financial stability, the FHD Board has adopted a new tax rate of $0.25 this year, and it will be taken to the voters on November 3rd, seeking their support.
With the up-coming addition of taxable value coming into our district by data center, expansion of Calpine and development at Lake Fairfield, it is expected that tax rate compression push or compress downward at a faster rate than in previous years.
In 2019/20, the “Friends of FMC” were a vital conduit to provide facts and honest information to our community.
If you wish to be a supportive voice for FMC, then I will email weekly information that you can share with friends, neighbors, and family so we can create a truthful and honest dialogue with the citizens of Fairfield Hospital District (which has the same boundaries of Fairfield School System).
Please feel free to encourage others to join “Friends of FMC” and to send me their email addresses (to tony.price74@hotmail.com) so we can broaden the communication chain.
We will conduct a couple of organizational meetings for “Friends of FMC” in early September to solicit input from the community.
The meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Green Barn in Fairfield.
The 9:00 a.m. meeting will provide coffee and donuts.
The 5:30 p.m. meeting will offer cookies and punch.
All are invited and encouraged to attend. We hope to see you there!
“I have been blessed since 1985 to serve here in Fairfield in the schools at various assignments and for the last 14 years as administrator of the Hospital District. I love this community and I value/respect our citizens.”
