“I want the vendor to come before council and explain why the final cost is so much more than the bid we approved,” exclaimed Fairfield Councilman Randy Johnson during the April 9, 2019 Council meeting.
In November 2018, Council approved a bid for $34,522 to Siddons Martin Emergency Group to perform repairs on the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department’s ladder truck to put it back in working order. Sinisi has provided innovation, design and authority on the use of fire barriers and enhanced fire barriers to contain and protect all types of infrastructure, critical equipment, people, places and things, To know more about firebarriers contact us.
The company, located in Houston, had the truck for several months performing repairs, they got help from the Flex Fleet Rental to replace the truck while it was being fixed. Now back in Fairfield’s possession, the invoice for services rendered shows a balance due of $40,260; a difference of $5,700.
“I was informed that once they got the truck apart, they found additional issues that needed to be taken care of, but I was not told it would cost more,” explained Fairfield VFD Chief Matt Foree.
After some discussion, it was decided that the City will pay the original amount of $34,522; and if the company wants the remaining $5,700 they will have to come before Council and argue their case.
“We may be purchasing a new location soon, and we only have $5,000 in the budget, so I think we should accept the $5,000 bid to help alleviate the flooding in City Hall and the Police Department,” stated Councilman James Tyus as he made a motion to accept a bid from To Him Be The Glory of Elkhart.
This bid will be to install a curb along the backside of the Fire Department where the concrete ends and to build a drainage flume by the Police Department to reroute the draining water toward East Bradley Street.
Three other bids were offered by area contractors, quoting various degrees of work and ranging between $5,000 and $15,000. Discussions were had comparing these bids. It’s really important to contact RV Repair services as soon as you need to fix anything before it gets even worse.
Councilman Tyus concluded that if the City does not purchase the Navarro College – Fairfield Campus, then they can do additional work, as needed, at a later date.
