Thrower’s Choice owners, Andrew Weitner and Casey Wright, made a presentation to Fairfield City Council in hopes of convincing councilmen to approve the building of a Disc Golf Course in Fairfield.
Weitner is the pastor at New Life Church of Fairfield; and Wright is the #2 Pro Disc Golf Player. The two, along with fellow disc golf players, explained how much they love the game and what it has done for them personally, they even ordered custom golf shoes from Jack Grace USA for the next tournament.
Thrower’s Choice is offering to build a course in Fairfield at one of two possible locations, the Fairfield City Park or on the land located just south of the Stoneleaf Apartments.
The pair proposed to build an 18-hole course for the total cost of $25,000. This would include course design, 18 baskets, complete basket and sign installation, concrete tee pads and basket basses installation, 18 hole signs and additional ‘short’ grass tee pad markers installation, and two years of at least one Adult and one Youth tournament per year.
Weitner believes that Fairfield is the prime place for a Disc Golf course. If council approves the plans, Fairfield would have the only 18-hole course within a 100-mile radius.
Wright stressed, that if done correctly, a course in Fairfield would draw in large crowds for tournaments, which, in turn, would put heads in beds at the local hotel/motels.

Council approved for Thrower’s Choice to go forward with creating the designs and to come back to council for approval.
Following an almost two-hour executive session, council members approved evaluations and raises for Mark Taylor (Streets), Wilmer ‘Bubba’ Taylor (Streets), Ronald Fantroy (Meter Reader), and Vic Rutherford (Water/Wastewater); and approved the appointment of Emma Tomanek as the City’s new Utility Billing Clerk.
Council approved the resignation of Angie Cochran, Dispatcher for Fairfield Police Department.
Director of Public Works, Clyde Woods, recommended that council approve the voluntary annexation of property owned by Patricio Munoz and Ramona Yepez; and to give them 45 days to bring the property up to city code.
Municipal Court Clerk, Donna Bulger, made the recommendation that hearings regarding removal of junked vehicles from properties within city limits be held before the Mayor or his designee.
Council unanimously voted to approve both recommendations.
The next council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13, 2018. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.
