Warehouse Living Arts Center (WLAC) is thrilled to announce its inaugural production for the 2024 season, Jason Robert Brown’s acclaimed musical, “The Last Five Years.” Directed by the talented Brett Butler and featuring an exceptional cast with Gabe Hawthorn (below) as Jaime and Brett Butler (at top) as Cathy, this emotionally riveting musical will run from January 17th through the 20th in the intimate setting of the Fator Studio at the WLAC, located at 119 West 6th Avenue in Corsicana.

“The Last Five Years” presents a poignant narrative of love, heartbreak, and the complexities of relationships, narrated from two different perspectives. Through captivating music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, audiences will be taken on a profound journey exploring the highs and lows of a romantic relationship from its exhilarating beginning to its inevitable end. The show’s unconventional structure consists of Cathy, the woman, telling her story backwards while Jamie, the man, tells his story chronologically.

Executive Director John Kaiser III expressed his excitement about bringing this exceptional piece to the Warehouse Living Arts Center. “This musical is a raw and heartfelt portrayal of human connections, showcasing the immense talent of our actors and the depth of emotions they bring to the stage. We’re thrilled to have discovered Gabe, who is currently a student at Navarro College, as well as getting Brett involved here at the WLAC. The independent film she co-starred in, Love in the Evening/Love in the Morning, has won over 60 awards from festivals across the globe including 3 best actor awards for Brett.”

The stellar performances by Gabe Hawthorn as Jaime and Brett Butler as Cathy promise to captivate audiences with their exceptional portrayal of the characters’ emotional journeys. Their chemistry on stage coupled with their remarkable vocal prowess will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on every theater enthusiast.
