The Malakoff Tigers had a 30-point halftime lead and that was enough to put the game away and continue to lead the district standings in a 47-3 win over the Fairfield Eagles at Eagle Field on Friday night.

Making a move to stop his Malakoff Tiger opponent is Fairfield Eagle #51 Caden Story.

The Eagles had six touchdown passes last week in the win over Eustace but the Tiger defense would not allow the Eagle offense to gain any advantage the entire night.

Malakoff Defense takes down Fairfield’s powerhouse #22 Braiden Barrett.

Malakoff took an early 13-0 lead on a pair of touchdown runs by Damien Jackson from three and four yards out. In the middle of those touchdown runs, the Eagle offense moved down the field converting on a third down with a pass connection from Cameron Cockerell to Rowdy Hand that covered 34 yards.

Completing several tackles during the game is Fairfield Eagle #40 Evan Chavers.

Malakoff quarterback Mike Jones passed to Weston Cartlidge for a 71-yard touchdown and then intercepted a pass and quickly turned it into points on a ten-yard touchdown run from Jason Tennyson. Later in the quarter, Jones hit Chauncey Hogg for a 37-yard scored and the Tigers built a 33-0 lead.

Throwing the pass is Fairfield Eagles Quarterback #10 Cameron Cockerell.

Fairfield mounted their most impressive drive at the end of the first half. Beginning at their 25-yard line, Braiden Barrett carried three times for 36 yards, breaking several tackles on one run. A couple of more Barrett runs put the Eagles at the Malakoff 20-yard line, then Eli Castillo came and kicked a 37-yard field to cut the lead to 33-3 at the half.

Tennyson added a ten-yard run in the third quarter and then the Tiger scored a late touchdown in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring and claim a 47-3 lead

The Fairfield Eagles (2-4, 1-1) are tied with the Mexia Blackcats in the District 8-3A Division I standings. Malakoff, Teague and Groesbeck remain the top three in the early games of district play and the Eagles will travel to Blackcat Field to take on neighboring rival Mexia on Friday night.
