Funeral services for E. David Johnson, 79, were held Thursday, September 13, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague, with Rev. Richard Gillet officiating and J. T. Brown giving the eulogy. Interment followed services at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was prior to the services on Thursday beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Johnson passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018, at his residence in Teague.

He was born on March 2, 1939, in Dew, Texas, grew up there and graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1957. Mr. Johnson was drafted into the U. S. Army and served his country for two years, mostly being stationed at Ft. Hood. He worked as a pipeliner and married Sharon Bond on December 31, 1966, and shared over fifty-one years of marriage together.

After working back and forth with the railroad and pipelines, Mr. Johnson began his railroad career in 1970 and became a train engineer for some thirty-three years until his retirement in 2003. He enjoyed raising cattle, watching rodeo, and loved to spend time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Johnson of Teague; one daughter, Julie Atchley & husband Michael of Dew; one granddaughter, Carly Rogers & husband Stewart; two great-grandchildren, Camryn Rogers and Maisyn Rogers; one sister, Brenda Johnson Cannon & husband Junior of Dew; one sister-in-law, Sue Hull & husband Charlie; three nieces and one nephew, Vicki Brown James, Beth Johnson Smith, Tina Sessions, and Casey Townsend; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Smith & Willie Mae Johnson; and two brothers, Oscar Smith Johnson and Bill Allen Johnson.
